Come visit us at the 9th World Congress of Microcirculation
in Paris France, Booth 15 on September 26 - 28!

Living Systems Instrumentation will be at the 9th World Congress of Microcirculation in Paris France! See all our latest products, including a new release of our popular video dimension analyzer.

We are pleased to announce a new version of our popular video dimension analyzer is now available. For many years, our V-94 Video Dimension Analyzer has been a staple instrument in vascular physiology labs all over the world. Its simplicity, ease of use, and reliability all make it a solid research instrument.

Now, we have redesigned the front panel controls to make them even easier to use. Our VDA-10 is the newest model Video Dimension Analyzer. It offers the same reliable edge-detection as our V-94, but has improved front panel controls. All of this, and we even decreased the price tag!

Click HERE for more information about the VDA-10.

Microcirculation

Dr. Anatoliy Gashev and colleagues have research highlighted on cover of Microcirculation

A research article titled “Methods for Lymphatic Vessel Culture and Gene Transfection” by Gashev, Davis, Gasheva, Nepiushchikh, Wang, Dougherty, Kelly, Cai, von der Weid, Muthuchamy, Meininger, and Zawieja recently appeared in the journal Microcirculation (16(7): 618-628, 2009). In this article, Dr. Gashev and coworkers used a novel gene transfection approach to introduce an adenoviral GFP reporter into lymphatic endothelial and smooth muscle cells from rat mesentery. In this work, vessel chambers from Living Systems Instrumentation were utilized for long-term organ culture of isolated and pressurized lymphatic vessels. A color photomicrograph showing lymphatic vessels transfected with GFP in the endothelium only, smooth muscle only, and both smooth muscle and endothelium appeared on the cover of the October and November issues of Microcirculation. Living Systems Instrumentation wishes to congratulate Dr. Gashev and the rest of this research team for their noteworthy work.

Heated Cover for Single and Dual Vessel Chambers

Model CH-HC

This new cover is designed to fit our CH-1 and CH-2 standard single and dual vessel chambers. It replaces the cover that came with these chambers previously. This heated cover addresses problems such as evaporative fluid loss and fogging of the cover that can occur during long-term (several hours) vessel perfusion studies, especially using a stagnant bath fluid.

Evaporative loss can make accurate drug dosing very difficult. Cover fogging can distort the image of the blood vessel, as light entering the chamber from the microscope condenser is scattered by the fluid condensate gathering on the cover surface.

The CH-HC heated cover installs easily on standard single and dual vessel chambers (CH-1 and CH-2). The temperature of the heated cover can be regulated using our TC-09 series temperature controllers. For stand-alone applications, use a TC-09S to control the temperature of the CH-HC. To regulate the temperature of a self-heated chamber and the heated cover at the same time, use the TC-09D.

Walker Lab at the University of New Mexico Publishes Cover Article in Microcirculation

Dr. B.R. Walker is a Professor in the Vascular Physiology Group at the University of New Mexico. Living Systems Instrumentation vessel chambers  were utilized in a recent research article titled “Antioxidant and Vasodilatory Effects of Heme Oxygenase on Mesenteric Vasoreactivity Following Chronic Hypoxia” that was published in the February 2009 issue of the journal Microcirculation. A figure of isolated blood vessels taken from that article was featured on the cover of the April 2009 and May 2009 issues of this journal.  Congratulations to the Walker Lab on a nice article and cover!
